Prof. dr. Karl Deisseroth receives an honorary doctorate from Chris de Zeeuw for his groundbreaking brain research. He is seen as the founder of optogenetics, a technique that makes it possible to activate specific brain cells with light. Deisseroth received his honorary doctorate in the context of the 108th Dies Natalis of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) on Monday 8 November with the theme Health, Technology & Society.
